Saving and Exporting
HSTracker saves data automatically, but you can also save manually using Save under the File menu, or by pressing cmd-S on your keyboard. The user data is stored in the file HSTracker.dat
You can export the currently visible data in a variety of formats, including FileMaker, CSV, Excel, XML and more. Select Export Found Hardware… or Export Found Software… from the File menu. Choose the file format and save the file as normal.
Full Data Dump
You can export data from HSTracker into Excel, HTML tables or CSV file formats directly to your Desktop. Select Excel, CSV or HTML Report from the Full Data Dumpsubmenu under File menu and follow the prompts. You may find our utilityMacCSV2UnixCSV useful if you need to move data from HSTracker to a Unix based database such as MySQL.
Select Backup from the File menu to create a zip archive of your data in the Documents folder. HSTracker also makes an automatic backup every hour and whenever you quit the application. This works well in combination with TimeMachine or other automated backup utility.
If you are running the multi-user version of HSTracker, use the FileMaker Server Admin Console to schedule regular backups.
